Missionary Valentine's Day Box

“Sometimes the greatest love is not found in the dramatic scenes that poets and writers immortalize.  Often, the greatest manifestations of love are the simple acts of kindness & caring we extend to those we meet along the path of life."
- Joseph B. Wirthlin

We Love Missionaries and We Love Valentine's Day Care Packages!!!

It is always fun to send our Kiddos a Care Package - but it is Super Fun to send a Box Full of LOVE! Our theme for this box was 'Our Hearts Will Follow You Where Our Eyes Cannot Go!'

♥︎ If you would like to send your own Valentine's Care Package to your Missionary - check out this kit we put together to help you do just that!

This Missionary Valentine's Care Package kit is designed to give you a Quick and Easy way to send Your Missionary a Spiritual & Fun Care Package.  The Box Flap Designs & Printables have over 62 beautifully-coordinated pieces - available now on Etsy from the Missionary Box Moms.

This kit includes an 18-Page High-Quality PDF File Download for DIY Printables.

For Ideas to help you put together the perfect Missionary Care Package, how you can use each Printable, to find links to print General Conference talks and other stories to include in your box - look below!

♥︎ Our Hearts Will Follow Where Our Eyes Cannot Go!  It's always so fun to see the pictures our Missionaries send home of them opening up their crazy boxes decorated in whatever the 'Theme' of the box is.

Most of the boxes we mailed were 12X12X8 or 12X12X5 which meant the flap size was just under 12X6 - so you can simply cut one piece of 12X12 scrapbook paper in half to cover each box flap.  (The boxes are Free from the US Post Office)

For the 'Valentine' box we used 2 different colors of 12X12 Scrapbook paper from The Doodlebug Design Company in their Sugar Coated Cardstock series in the following colors: Peacock and Cupcake.  You could choose to just use 1 of the colors or your could also use 4 different colors if you want your care package to be a little more colorful.  We cut each paper in half - then trimmed them slightly to fit the box flaps.  We then printed off our MBM printables onto photo paper, cut them out and attached it all to the box with Glue Dots for durability.  You can find Glue Dots at any craft store near you or on Amazon.

You can choose whatever size box works best for you.  We chose to mail the large 12X12x5 U.S. Postal Service sized box simply for economy - since it was just a few dollars more to send a large box vs. a medium box.

Be My Valentine!!!  One thing we always included in all of our Missionary Box Mom Boxes was a personalized letter to each Missionary from each Mother.  Inside our letters we included our testimonies, the reason we chose that particular item to include in the box, along with uplifting messages filled with love.  A lot of the items won't make much sense as to why you are including them in the box unless you explain how it specifically applies to your Missionary and to Missionary Work.  Many times over we have received thank you letters from our Missionaries - but the things they thanked us all for the most was the letters we included.  It's just a little piece of 'Home' in a box!  So don't forget to write!

Heart Mail!  As we decided on each ‘Missionary Box Theme’, which we based around a scripture or missionary teaching idea, we would then brainstorm fun ideas that could be included in our box.  This 'Box' was pretty easy since we were able to find lots of scriptures and teaching ideas that we could relate back to Love or Hearts or Valentine's Day. (And maybe a little Chocolate!) 😊

Print Off The Following Conference Talks & Stories:
(These will be used throughout your box as shown.  But you could swap in any talks or stories that you feel would be fun to send to your Missionary!)

General Conference April 2011: 'Finding Joy through Loving Service' by M. Russell Ballard Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Ensign January 1998 First Presidency Message: 'How Do We Show Our Love?' by President Thomas S. Monson.

General Conference October 1978: 'The Joy of Serving a Mission' by Elder LeGrand Richards.

General Conference October 1978: 'What Are the Blessings of a Mission? Can Ye Tell?' by Vaughn J. Featherstone.

General Conference April 1982: 'Remember the Mission of the Church' by President Spencer W. Kimball.

We Heart You!  I'm sure it was just as much fun for us to build it as it was for our missionaries to receive it! Depending on the size of the box you are sending – you could include or delete any of the following items – or come up with a few of your own.  We tried to make sure that most of our items could be used to enhance missionary discussions, to be given away, to decorate their missionary apartments and left for future missionaries when they moved on, or simply eaten and enjoyed.  But of course there were always a few that were just for fun!

there is a Valentine's Day -
a day of love, kisses,

Due to the challenging nature of a mission, Church leaders are instructed to only recommend young men and women who are spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally prepared to face the realities of missionary work.Houston escorts
